PURPOSE:To manufacture a granulated ion exchanger economically by mixing a petroleum bituminous substance with coal, etc. and granulating the mixture, and then coating the granulated material with the powder of a petroleum bituminous substance mixed with coal, etc., which contains coal, etc. in a larger proportion and thus by performing air oxidation as it is. CONSTITUTION:A powder raw material obtained by mixing 0-40wt% coal, etc., which has a >=0.6 hydrogen/carbon atomic ratio with a petroleum bituminous substance which has a 130-210 deg.C softening point, and <=1 penetration, and contains <=5wt% saturated components is granulated. To prevent the granulated bodies from melt sticking to one another, the granulated bodies are coated with 0/100-30/70wt. ratio mixed powder of said petroleum bituminous substance and coal, etc. The granulated bodies obtained by said two-stage granulating method are put in a rotary kiln and heated there for air oxidation. This method requires neither the use of special chemicals nor the employment of a special baking method, and produces a weak acid positive ion exchanger. |
