<p>Anilide derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are new: (R is 1-methyl-2-methoxyethyl or sec. butyl. R1 is halo or 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy. R2 and R3 are H, 1-3C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or halo. R4 is H or methyl and the total no. of C atoms in R1, R2, R3 and R4 is not over 8. Z is methylene or ethylene. R5 is pyrazolyl; 1,2,4- or 1,2,3-triazolyl or imidazolyl). (I) are prepd. e.g. by acylating an N-R-aniline with HOOC.Z.R5. (I) have microbicidal (fungicidal and bactericidal) activities and are useful for protecting plants, particularly against Oomycetes such as Phytophthora, peronospora, Pseudoperonospora, Pythium and Plasmopara species. They can be applied to the growing plants or used as seed dressings. Some examples illustrate their systemic action. 8 Cpds. are specifically claimed e.g. N-(1-methyl-2-methoxyethyl) N-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl) acetyl Q-aniline where Q is 2,6-dimethyl; 2,3,6-trimethyl or 3-chloro-2,6-dimethyl and the corresp. 1,2,3-triazol-1-yl cpds.</p> |
