The pre-adjustment is applied to the cutting and ejection tools of a platen press for cutting cardboard. The cutting tool comprises a wooden board former (14) implanted with cutting and grooving filaments (20), and the first and second ejection boards are the same size as the blanks leaving the cutting post and the first ejection posts respectively plus a pincer grip. The pre-adjustment template (76) uses longitudinal locating stops (90,92) of identical form to those used on the respective tool and ejection board supports. It has drill-guide holes (82,84) to the same grid as the corresponding support parts, and permits the transfer of the tools to the press whilst conserving their relative positions in both longitudinal and transverse directions.
