In the production of proximity control switching panels which exhibit several capacitors, each one of which exhibits a control electrode and at least one secondary electrode which have a capacitive relationship to one another, the problem of achieving a high degree of standardisation whilst retaining the possibility of meeting different user requirements exists. In some embodiments of the invention (for example Figure 1), this panel exhibits several capacitors (12, 13), the control electrode (11) and the secondary electrodes (3, 4) being deposited on front and rear dielectric panels (10, 1). At least the front panel (10) and the control electrodes (11) are transparent and a dielectric character panel (8), which carries several characters (9) that identify switches, each one of which characters is arranged in registration with a capacitor (12 or 13), is arranged sandwich-like between the front panel (10) and the rear panel (1). The characters (9) can be printed. In other embodiments (Figure 6), all electrodes (11, 3, 4) are transparent and are deposited on a single transparent panel (10) behind which a dielectric character plate (8) is arranged which is printed in order to show the characters (9) identifying the switches. In each case, the entire switching panel can be transparent apart from the printed sections of the character plate. A screening electrode (2) can be provided and the entire switching panel can be held together by an adhesive beading (14) and/or by adhesive films (15). <IMAGE>
