PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of weld defects and to improve welding efficiency through full automation in continuous multilayer welding of circumferential joints of pipes, etc., by performing changing of welding conditions and stepping positions for every layer and pulling up of a torch in accordance with this automatically. CONSTITUTION:When the start of welding is commanded with an operation box 15, a rotating and driving device 2 rotates revolving pipes up to the origin. Then, an origin signal is inputted an input-output interface circuit 14 to a computer-controlled circuit 13; at the same time, the welding conditions stored in a device 12 are outputted and a series of welding operations take place. When the pipes return to the origin again, the origin signal is emitted, but the welding conditions do not change. On the other hand, an origin delay timer T11 is turned on simultaneously with the origin signal, and when it times up, the welding conditions are stepped to the conditions of a layer number 2. Further, in synchronization with this, the ascending of a torch is started, and its timer T21 is turned on. Upon timing up of this timer, the ascending of the torch stops. Both T11 and T21 are beforehand set with a setter 11 for every layer as software timers. |
