PURPOSE:To prolong the service life of flues and a heat exchanger, by spraying an alkali compound to the surfaces of metal flues and those portions of a heat exchanger through which hot waste gas is passed, and thereby coating the surfaces with the alkali compound layer capable of preventing corrosion by the exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas from a boiler 4 is passed through a flue 1 made of a heat-resisting and acid-resisting stainless steel, heat exchanger 2, etc. and then discharged to the outside through a smokestack 5. At a portion of the flue 1, there is provided a means 3 for spraying caustic soda solution and forming a film of caustic soda over the inner wall surfaces of the flue 1 and those portions of a heat exchanger 2 through which hot waste gas is passed. By the presence of caustic soda solution, acidic gases and sulfer oxides contained in the exhaust gas can be neutralized and corrosion of metal parts can be prevented, so that their service life can be prolonged. |
