PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance by making the surface of a ferromagnetic metallic thin-film magnetic layer repellent by washing the surface with a solvent, such as demineralized water, alcohol and ethyl acetate, after adsorbing fatty acid to the surface, by performing chemical adsorption and by washing off the fatty acid. CONSTITUTION:After a magnetic layer of a ferromagnetic metallic thin film of Co (alloy), etc., is formed on a base of a polyester film, etc., this is dipped at the room temperature - about 65 deg.C for ten minutes in a solution of fatty acid, such as acetic acid and stearic acid, or an alcohol solution, and then washed with demineralized water or alcohol to remove excessive fatty acid, or further dipped in an alkaline bath with 8-10pH to remove unreacted fatty acid. Thus, the surface of the magnetic layer is made repellent to prevent deterioration in running characteristics due to rust caused by dewing on the magnetic layer at high humidity. |
