PURPOSE:The dilute sodium hydroxide solution is concentrated by heating with the anode solution in the electrolyzer and the steam generated is pressurized by compression and used to raise the temperature of the anode solution and the resultant hot solution is sent back to the electrolyzer, thus remarkably saving the energy consumed. CONSTITUTION:The dilute sodium hydroxide solution produced in the electrolyzer 31 is sent by pump 32 into the kettle of the evaporator 33 and the anode solution of the electrolyzer 1 is sent into the shell of the evaporator 33 to effect the concentration. The steam generated from the diluted solution in the evaporator is led through pipe 35 into the steam compressor 36 where the steam is pressurized by compression and is sent into the direct heat exhanger 37 where the anode solution from the evaporator 33 is directly brought into contact with the steam. The evacuator 38 is directly connected to the direct heat exchanger 37 and the pressurized steam is forced into the heat exchanger to raise the temperature of the anode solution. The resultant hot anode solution is sent by pump 40 into the electrolyzer 31 whereby the output pressure of the compressor 36 can be lowered in the steam compression. |
