PURPOSE:To prevent blocking and rust due to the corrosion of a magnetic surface by sticking drops of water in a high-humidity atmosphere, by permitting both the magnetic surface and its reverse surface to have contact angles of water more than a specific value. CONSTITUTION:On the magnetic surface and reverse surface of a metallic thin- film type magnetic tape obtained by vacuum-depositing Fe, Co, Ni, or their alloy on a film base of polyester, etc., a film of several molecule layers of fatty acid, fatty-acid soap, silicone oil, etc., is formed. Consequently, the treated surface has a >=85 deg. contact angle of water. Thus, the blocking of the top and reverse surfaces and corrosion at a dewing point in a long period are prevented from occurring owing to dewing between the magnetic surface and reverse surface of a tape wound in a high-humidity atmosphere. |
