PURPOSE:To enable the surplus damping water to be returned to a water fountain in a device which supplies damping water to a plate, by slanting a line connecting the center of a fountain roller to that of a tangent roller from a vertical line toward the side of rise of the fountain roller by an angle of 10 deg.. CONSTITUTION:Since a line 4A connecting the center of a fountain roller 17 to that of a metering roller 21 is slanted from a vertical line 5A toward the side of rise of rotation of the roller 17 by an angle of 10 deg., water drops which are drawn up by the circumference of the roller 17 and tend to accumulate in a recessed portion 40 and those adhered to both sides of the roller are caused to fall down by gravity into a water fountain 15. A film of damping water 32a transferred to the metering roller 21 is transferred in sequence through a transfer roller 20 and a damping roller 22 and caused to join with a water film 35 remained on a printing plate mounted on a plate cylinder 11 and it is divided into halves 36a at the contact portion and then sent to the contact portion of an inking roller 12 with the plate. Consequently, the thickness of surplus damping water is divided into halves or reduced at the contact portion of each roller and only a required amount of water is stably supplied. |
