PURPOSE:To obtain the ozone decomposing filter with excellent ozone decomposing capacity, a long life and reduced gas passing resistance by further carrying a catalyst on a porous carrier comprising carrying activated carbon particles in an inorg. fired matrix. CONSTITUTION:Activated carbon particles are added to a clay or a glass powder and, if necessary, an org. binder is added thereto to carrying out kneading of the formed mixture and, after the kneaded mixture is extruded from a mesh like die, the extrudate is cut into a ring like form to be dried and the dried object is fired in a reductive atmosphere to obtain a honeycomb like porous body 2. Manganese oxide and copper oxide are preliminarily adsorbed to the activated carbon particles prior to firing or those oxide powders are preliminarily mixed therein prior to firing to be carried thereon or the mixture of said oxides may be adsorbed to the inside of the porous body 2 after firing. By this constitution, the obtained ozone decomposing filter can decompose O3 generated from an electrostatic copier or the like to O2 molecule in good efficiency. |
