Prodn. is carried out by (a) cooking calves' feet, carrots and apples in water over moderate heat, (b) skimming the broth to remove fat and synovia, (c) removing the bones, comminuting solids and sieving the broth to obtain a homogeneous liq., and (d) adding sugar and concentrating the liq. by boiling until the product forms a jelly on cooling. The product is suitable for consumption by elderly people, infants, sportsmen and patients suffering from certain diseases. It is stated to be useful in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders, intestinal disorders, myopathy, atherosclerosis, rickets, asthenia, tetany and chemotherapeutically treated leukaemia. |
