A non-return valve has a valve body with a flow path which passes through it and is surrounded by a valve seat. A moving valve element contains a sealing ring which rests on the valve seat to provide a sealing closure of the valve. The sealing ring contains a lip section which is constructed such that the upstream fluid pressure (P1) in this case helps to hold the lip section on the valve seat, in order in this way to improve the valve sealing.
