To simplify the construction of a watch comprising an analog display and an electro-optical display cell 12, the analog display is provided by two transparent discs 8a and 10a carrying minute and hour markers 8 and 10 and located in front of the cell 12. The discs are driven at their peripheries by means of a stepping motor 40. This construction permits the use of a display cell 12 of large size, which does not have hand spindles passing through it. The display cell 12 is visible through apertures in a dial 14. The watch is powered by a cell 64. There may be two separate motors for the minutes and hours discs 8a, 10a. The hand discs may show local time when the electro-optical display shows the time at a different location (Rome in Fig. 1). <IMAGE> |
