To reduce the signal attenuation associated with speed aberration in a data transmission path between a first station (E), which has a laser (1) which emits a focussed light beam and a receiver (12) for laser light, and a second station (S) which moves in relation to the first station and which, by means of a modulating reflector (7, 8), retransmits the light beam received through an entry aperture, the entry aperture of the second station (S) has a variable diaphragm (5). The variable diaphragm (5) can be adjusted, via an adjusting device (18) and a controller (14) connected to it, to an optimum diameter (D) dependent on the speed aberration of the light beam received from the first station (E). <IMAGE>
