PURPOSE:To reduce the vacuum evacuation time of a welding chamber and to improve the quality of a weld zone in electron beam welding by changing the volume of said chamber according to the size of the work. CONSTITUTION:A moving face 1a is provided to a welding chamber 1 in a welding device by an electron beam, and the face 1a is slided in an arrow A direction with driving devices 3a and 3b according to the size of the work contained in the inside, thence while a high degree of vacuum is maintained with a vacuum seal packing 2, the volume of the chamber 1 is changed, whereby a vacuum evacuation treating device is made smaller in size. It is possible to decrease the distance between the work and an electron gun 4 by providing said gun 4 to the face 1a, and this results in improved conversing characteristic of the electron beam and improved quality of the weld zone. |
