The appts. is used for applying or removing nuts from vehicle wheel hubs. It has a sloping sided frame (3) with vertical guides (2) attached to it for a block (1) which can be raised or lowered to a required height. At this height, two strips (14) projecting from the block, lock against a fixed point. An extension (13) passing through a bearing (7) at the centre of the block has a socket head (9) which can then be fitted over the nut. At the outer end of the extension is a square head over which can be fitted the socket (10) at the end of an arm (11) with sufficient leverage to free the nut when rotated.
