The aim of the invention is to increase the service life of hollow bodies plastic-coated on the inside and outside, which are preferably joined together to form a system, for example a pipeline system. The object of the invention is to secure the inner coating permanently and to protect the end faces of the hollow body reliably against access by the media to be transported. The apparatus according to the invention comprises a flexible pressure element and a moulding head. The flexible pressure element is longer than the zone to be plastified. Fitted on the moulding head is an outer sleeve, which can be pushed over the end of the hollow body plastic-coated on the inside and outside. The length of the sleeve is approximately ten times the nominal wall thickness of the hollow body. The apparatus is braced by the pressure element against the end of the hollow body, and the coating material is plastified. By displacing inner coating material into the mould, the collar is produced. <IMAGE>
