The adjusting compartment (5) of a furniture carcass (1) for accommodating individual components of stereo systems can be adapted to the construction width of the stereo system due to the fact that one side of the adjusting compartment (5) is designed as a displaceable compartment side wall (7) which is disposed in parallel and stands on the base plate (2) of the adjusting compartment (5), bears with its upper edge (8) against the top plate (3) of the furniture carcass and is firmly connected in the region of its rear edge (9) to a rear wall (10) extending over only part of the overall carcass width, by means of which the compartment side wall (7) is fastened securely in terms of its angle in its final assembly position. <IMAGE>
