PURPOSE:To manufacture a thin plate of good quality that does not come off surely and at high efficiency in rolling a thin plate directly from molten metal by flaking off and rolling the molten metal to belt-like form by using only a hoisting roll that sticks molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A hoisting roll 1' that sticks molten metal rotates in the direction of (a) around a horizontal axis while its inside being cooled by refrigerant flow between inner and outer peripheral walls 1'A, 1'B. Molten meral 3 is stored in a charging spout 15 and inside of the roll arc face 1'a from a nozzle 18, and a pinch roll 19 that rorates in the derection of (b) is provided at the top of the roll 1'. While semisolidified molten metal 3A formed by holsting molten metal with an arc face 1'a of upper half of back side of the roll 1' by rotation of the roll 1', arrives at the top of the roll 1', regulation of thickness and cleaning of the surface are made by blowing inert gas from a nozzle 20. Immediately after that, the molten metal is flaked off from the roll 1' by dog plates 21A, 21B and sent to rolls 22A, 22B. |
