In a mine in which a roadway I is extended laterally to work a face II, the sides 1a of the roadway frames adjacent the face are removed, and roof bars 3 for the extension are supported by props 2 and connected to the roof bars 1b of the frames. Bars 5 parallel to the roadway are interposed between the props and the bars 3. A conveyer extends from the roadway to the face, the props adjacent the conveyer being removed but being replaced immediately the conveyer is moved as the face is cut. The extension is filled with goaf after the face has been cut and the sides 1a are replaced as filling proceeds. |
