The recoil-less firearm has a barrel open at both ends, accommodating a propellant charge dampened in the rearwards direction by an inert compensation mass. Piston-type intermediate plungers fit between missile and charge, and between charge and mass. The weights and distances covered of the missile and mass inside the barrel and also of the plungers are such that the mass frees the barrel simultaneously with the missile or after it. The plungers (2) are secured together by a tension-resistant rope etc., (3) whose length is such that the plungers are halted immediately before reaching the respective barrel mouths. |
