A delivery roll (3) is specified to which a sheet-shaped flat material such as a fabric web (2) is fed and which can deposit this fabric web (2) in a well-defined position on a delivery table. The delivery roll (3) is designed as a circulating drum (4) with passage openings (5) in the interior of which a fixed shaft (6) having at least one internal bore (7, 14) is located. The first internal bore (7) has outlet openings (8) which are directed into a sector (9), defined in particular by a screening device (10), of the interior space of the drum (4). Air or another gas is blown through the internal bore (7) and the outlet openings (8) into the sector (9) and thus through the passage openings (5) for lifting the fabric web (2) from the drum (4) at a particular place. Improved adhesion of the fabric web (2) at the feed side of the delivery roll (3) can be achieved by suction, for which purpose a second internal bore (14) is expediently provided in the same fixed shaft (6), which second internal bore (14) has inlet openings (15) into the interior space of the drum (4), via which inlet openings (15) and the passage openings (5) of the drum (4) the fabric web (2) is sucked against the drum (4) in a defined manner for adhesion, which fabric web (2) is then lifted at a desired point by the aforementioned blowing device.
