PURPOSE:To obtain an ingot of good axial center characteristic by providing plural electromagnetic stirrers for the solid-liquid stagnating part of a secondary cooling zone, preventing the formation of white bands in the forestage and moving the isometeic crystal pieces formed in a large amt. to near a crater end in the post stage. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel extruded from a feed nozzle 1 connected to a tundish is electromagnetically stirred with a rotary type electromagnetic stirrer 4 of the forestage installed in the unsolidified ingot stagnating part of a secondary cooling zone. The stirring patterns are changed at every prescribed time, whereby the formation of white bands is prevented and only the isometric crystal pieces are formed in a large amt. Next, the isometric crystal pieces are moved to the neighborhood of a crater end 6 by a linear type electromagnetic stirrer 5 of the post stage. In this way, the ingot of axial center characteristic having no white bands is obtained. |
