The device comprises a measuring carriage forming a reference base parallel to the plane of the track, which carriage is intended to be connected to a traction engine. This carriage comprises, above each stretch of rails, a group of three sensors (13, 14, 15) aligned along the rail for determining the characteristics (H, L) of its profile lengthwise, and a group of sensors (16, 14, 17) arranged across the rail for determining the curvature (f) and the transverse inclination (i) of its running tread. These quantities are determined by a circuit (18) for processing the signals from the sensors taking into account the values representing the distances (Ym...Yn) between the reference base and the running tread vertically below the sensors, and then stored in a recorder (22) in the form of graphs of their variations as a function of the path travelled. <IMAGE> |
