PURPOSE:To increase the liquid-leakage resistance and the reliability of an alkaline battery by preparing a gasket for the battery by drying nylon 66 with a specified density until its water content becomes below a given value. CONSTITUTION:After a generation element is placed in a positive can, the positive can and a negative can are sealed by compressing and interposing a gasket between the cans, thereby constituting an alkaline battery. The former gasket is prepared principally from nylon 66 which is molded so that it has a density of 1.1-1.2g/cm<3>. In addition, the gasket is incorporated in the battery after it is dried, for example, in a vacuum furnace at 90 deg.C for 30min so as to adjust the water content of the gasket to below 0.3%. |
