PURPOSE:To enable a balancing device for a machine tool to be miniaturized, which is used in the case of the long travelling distance of a spindle head, by engaging the motor shaft of a weight balancing fluid pressure motor, through a gear mechanism, to a feed screw for elevating the spindle head. CONSTITUTION:A gear 19 which is secured to the motor shaft 18 of a fluid pressure motor 17 is engaged with a gear 20 secured to a feed screw for elevating a spindle head through an intermediate gear 21. During the elevation of the spindle head, fluid is supplied into a pressure reducing valve from a fluid pressure unit 37 so that the pressure of fluid is adjusted to a suitable value for balancing, and is then exerted to the fluid pressure motor 17 which, therefore, rotates the motor shaft 18 in the elevating direction of the feed screw. The fluid then returns to the fluid pressure unit through a relief valve 21. This fluid pressure motor 17 is adjusted to maintain pressure corresponding to about 85-90% of the weight of the spindle head. |
