Regeneration of treatment liquid during the processing of photographic paper or film is controlled by measuring the ohmic resistance of the paper or film 3 as it passes between electrically conductive rollers 1, 2, thereby obtaining the width of the paper or film. The supply is governed as a function of the width, roller rotation rate and paper or film density.
