1,079,925. Thermographic transfer processes. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Aug. 7, 1964 [Aug. 7, 1963], No. 32158/64. Addition to 1, 015, 925. Heading G2C. Documents are copied by the transfer process of Claims 1 or 2 of Specification 1, 015, 925 (wherein a crystalline polymer with a tackifying point of 50-200‹ C. or a polymer containing a crystalline substance with a tackifying point between 50-200‹ C. is imagewise heated above its tackifying point and the heated areas are transferred to a receptor sheet whilst still tacky) allowing the heat-sensitive material to recrystallize until the tacky areas are not transferable at the transfer temperature and then repeating the exposure and transfer steps of the above method to obtain a second copy of the same or a different document. The materials used are those of Specification 1,015, 925 and they may contain particles to regulate the transfer of tacky material or an overcoat porous to the tacky material as disclosed in Specification 1, 015, 926. In the examples, poly (1, 4-cyclohexanadimethylene) adipate and a dye is coated on a support and is imagewise exposed to heat to raise temperature of the exposed areas to above 110‹ C. (the tackifying point). It is then contacted with a receptor sheet and the tacky areas are transferred thereto under pressure and at room temperature. After 5 minutes recrystallization at room temperature, the material is re-exposed and re-transferred to give a second copy of the same original.
|
