PURPOSE:To know characteristics by an appearance easily at a look, by performing coloring which corresponds to the tape characteristics. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a flexible tape base 1 made of an organic substance, a magnetic layer 2 is formed, and on it, a protective film 3 colored in accordance with tape characteristics by mixing fine powder of iron oxide, ferrite, etc., with synthetic resin or a nonmagnetic metallic layer 4, such as aluminum alloy, which can be colored is provided. Then, this metallic layer 4 is colored by electrochemical treatment, such as alumite treatment, in accordance with the tape characteristics, and on the layer 4, a transparent white protective film 3 is formed, thus obtaining a magnetic tape. |
