PURPOSE:To obtain a diarylbenzene in high yield useful as a plasticizer, a lubricant, and a raw material for high energy fuel, by adding a monoaromatic compound to divinylbenzene in the presence of a high polymer resin containing sulfonic group. CONSTITUTION:Using a sulfonic group-containing high polymer resin[e.g., styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer containing an introduced sulfonic group, a compound shown by the formulaI(n is 0, 1, or 2; R is F or 1-10C perfluoroalkyl)], a compound shown by the formula II[X is O(CF2)m-(m is integer of 1-10), -OCF2 CFY-(Y is F or trifluoromethyl), etc.], 2mol monocyclic aromatic compound (e.g., toluene, xylene, etc.) is added to 1mol divinylbenzene (e.g., m-divinylbenzene, etc.), to give a diarylbenzene shown by the formula III (Ar1 and Ar2 are monocyclic aromatic group residue). |
