EMERGENCY USE OF FORMAT TAPE

PURPOSE:To avoid the nonworking loss of a line printer when a fault arises to the format designating function, by turning over a format tape when the fault arises and at the same time connecting the sensor group to the sensor signal detector group. CONSTITUTION:One unit or more light transmission holes 7 are provided to an endless format tape 1 coupling to a line printer via a sprocket wheel 5 which engages a pawl hole train 6 on the tape center line. The position of the hole 7 provided to the tape 1 is detected by the sensor signal detector groups connected in the 1:1 correspondence via an optical sensor 2 and an ordinary cable 4. The line printer that designtes a format by the position of the hole 7 is actuated with use of an emergency cable 4a which connects the sensor 2 and the sensor signal detector in a reverse symmetric way to the ordinary cable centering on the tape center and the turned-over tape 1.
