PURPOSE:To increase the range of utilization of a magnetic tape by recording a digital signal, which has at least a single repetitive frequency, on the reverse surface of the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:On the reverse surface of a magnetic tape, alternate white and block colors are arranged on, for example, an uppermost track T1 at the highest repetitive frequency, and on a lowermost track TN at the lowest repetitive frequency; when the repetitive frequency of color arrangement on the track T1 is denoted as F, that of the track Tn (n: 2-N) is (1/2<n-1>)XF, and the recording part of this reverse surface is utilized as a control track, a wow-and-flutter improving track, an absolute-address display track, etc. |
