PURPOSE:To remove the materials stuck on the outside circumference of a molten metal immersion pipe quickly, safely and surely by providing a cylindrical body having teeth for removing said materials on a traveling dolly freely turnably, and driving the same to move upward around the immersion pipe. CONSTITUTION:A traveling dolly 13 is positioned below a vacuum degassing tank 19 or the like. While pressure oil is supplied to oil pressure cylinders 161, 162, a handle 18 for operating an air pallet is operated to glide an air release table 8, thereby positioning a tooth crown 2 to right under an immersion pipe 9. Then, the crown 2 ascends in the form of penetrating through the pipe 9, and abuts on the base metal and slag stuck to the outer side of the pipe 9, thereby stripping these. The crown 2 is lowered by operating the cylinders 161, 162, and the crown 2 is rotated slightly by energizing the air pallet, after which it is moved upward again to remove the slag. Thence, a table 14 is moved upward to place the leading ends of teeth 1 on the flange 21 of the pipe 9 and the flange 21 of the pipe 9 is removed from the flange 20 of the tank 19. At this time, coil springs 7 act as cushion materials supporting the pipe 9. |
