PURPOSE:To provide high performance of Sm2Co17 type magnet having resin, metal or ceramic bond by adding microscopic quantity of S, Se, Te, Ce, Pb, Cd, Bi or Si to an Sm-Co-Cu-Fe-Nb alloy, thereby accelerating the columnar crystal growth of an alloy ingot. CONSTITUTION:An alloy containing Sm, Co, Cu, Fe, Nb and M(at least one or more of S, Se, Te, Ce, Pb, Cd, Bi and Si) is produced with a composition under the condition that its composition formula as an atomic ratio is Sm(Co1-u-v-w-x Cuu1FevNbwMx)z and its composition range is 0<U<0.2, 0<V<0.5, 0<W<0.1, 0<X<0.1, 6.5<=Z<=9.0. An alloy containing mainly Sm2Co17 type crystal is produced, and the macrostructure of the ingot at the time of casting the alloy is columnar crystal. Then, the columnar crystal growth of the ingot is accelerated, and high performance of the resin, metal or ceramic bond Sm2Co17 type magnet is provided. |
