PURPOSE:To detect the position of the speed change gear by using a system in which the ratio of the output signal of an engine revolving number sensor to the output signal of a vehicle speed sensor is obtained and the ratio obtained is compared with a set value. CONSTITUTION:At a step 42, the revolving number Ne of an engine is divided by a vehicle speed SPD, and the result is considered to NV which is nearly a fixed value varying according to the positions of speed change gear. At a step 44, a comparison is made as to whether NV is equal to a fixed value TBL(ix) stored in ROM. When NV is equal to TBL(1), (1) is put in detection signal SFT at a step 45 and processing cycle is completed. The detection signal SFT=1 indicates that gear is in low position, for example. In case of NO at the step 44, discrimination is repeated until NV becomes equal to TBL(ix) and the position of gear is detected. |
