PURPOSE:To realize various types of retrieval such as the retrieval of wild card, relative word, etc., in accordance with ways of giving attribute, by defining the partial digit of a numeric character code as the digit showing the attribute of a relevant key word. CONSTITUTION:For instance, a company A is retrieved and a retrieving numeric character code '1234560000' is inputted. Then the parts of lower four digits (0000) are masked and retrieved for a connection code between a numeric character code and an identification code. Thus 'A Co., Ltd.', 'A works', 'A & Co.', etc., are retrieved and data numbers '001', '004' and '006' are obtained. Then these relevant data are read out and their details are known. In such a constitution of a key word/numeral code conversion table, it is possible to obtain a retrieving system that has a function equivalent to the retrieving function of character itself like the partial character string, the relative words/phrases, etc., despite the retrieval carried out by numeral character codes.
