PURPOSE:To improve the image pickup performance of a body whose image is to be picked up, by permitting a color image pickup device to operate normally when said body is bright or as a high-sensitivity one when dark. CONSTITUTION:When a body whose image is to be picked up is bright, a signal led out of an image pickup tube 5 is processed by video amplification 6, and a processing circuit 7 performs correction and color-signal separation to send its output to a matrix circuit 8, which generates and sends a color difference signal to a color encoder circuit 12, thereby generating a TV signal. The outut of the circuit 6 is detected by a detecting circuit 16 and compared with a prescribed level by a comparing circuit 17 to output a control signal. With this signal, a switching circuit 13 selects and sends the output of a color encoder circuit 9 through an output circuit 14. In this case, an infrared cut-filter 3 is inserted into an optical path, but when the picked-up body is dark, the circuit 17 detects that to send out the output of the encoder circuit 12 through the circuit 13 while the filter 3 is put off the optical path. |
