PURPOSE:To improve the electrolyte leakage resistance of a battery by coating a seal part of an alkaline battery with a specific sealant dissolved in an organic solvent, and sealing the battery after volatilizing the organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:In an insulating gasket of a seal part of an alkaline battery, a sealant comprising mainly asphalt and an epoxy resin is dissolved into an organic solvent such as toluene or thinner and is applied on the gasket. After volatilizing the organic solvent, the seal part is closed to form the alkaline battery. Preferably, the sealant is heat-treated before or after the sealing of the battery. |
