PURPOSE:To obtain a small and light-weight recorder/reproducer of video signals that produces a high-quality reproduced signal having a coincidence of timing between the luminance and chrominance signals with the excellent S/N and band properties, by recording and reproducing the luminance and chrominance signals through different heads respectively. CONSTITUTION:The luminance signal Y is recorded by a pair of heads, and the chrominance signal components I and Q are recorded by a pair of heads in the form of a signal with the time axial compression carried out with every certain period. In this case, a signal corresponding to the horizontal synchronous signal is applied at least to the two chrominance signal components. Then the boundary of the above-mentioned certain period during the extension of time is varied in the reproduction mode by the output signal obtained by comparing the phases between the horizontal synchronous signal in the luminance signal and the signal corresponding to the horizontal synchronous signal in the chrominance signal received the time axial expansion during the reproduction. Thus a coincidence is obtained between the reproduced luminance and chrominance signals. |
