<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high-quality compound useful as an intermediate for agricultural chemicals, etc. by a short reaction process in high yield, by reacting a 2-halogeno-6-phenoxypyridine with metal magnesium in a polar inert organic solvent, followed by formylation. CONSTITUTION:A compound shown by the formulaI(X is halogen, preferably Cl or Br.) is reacted with metal magnesium in a polar inert organic solvent such as preferably tetrahydrofuran, etc. perferably in an inert gas atmosphere. The reaction product is then reacted with a formylating agent such as preferably dimethylformamide, etc., to give a compound shown by the formula II. The compound shown by the formulaIcan be synthesized easily from an industrially inexpensively obtainable 2,6-dihalogenopyridine and phenol. The above-mentioned method does not necessarily need a reaction initiator such as iodine, ethyl bromide, etc. and a reaction promotor which are essential in an existing technique.</p> |
