PURPOSE:To perform gouging for a long time continuously in underwater disassembly of a pressure vessel, etc., by providing ruggedness at both ends of short sized carbon rods, arraying a large number of these and forming these to a long size. CONSTITUTION:One end of a short sized carbon rod 7 is formed into a hollow shape and the other end to a projecting shape, and a large number of these are arranged and combined. The outside circumferences thereof are enclosed with a metallic plate 8, and these are formed to a cylindrical shape, whereby the rods 7 are made long in size to one body and are given flexibility. A hole is opened at the center of the bars 7, and a cord 9 contained with adhesives such as flux, water glass, epoxy resin or the like is inserted therein to stabilize the arc and to fix the bars 7 to the cord 9, whereby the rods are formed to a long size and one body and their flexibility is made more effective. Thereby, the terminal of the carbon rods is exposed always to the outside of an atomic reactor in underwater gouging of a pressure vessel for the atomic reactor, etc., and the carbon rods are connected while contamination by radioactivity is prevented. |
