<p>The molecules of reagent are fixed to the inner surface of the wall of a transparent, sampling cone point frequently fitted to a pipette when a sample of liq. is to be transferred to a test tube etc. Pref. the reagent molecules are those of proteins, esp. antigens and antibodies as well as enzymes, vitamins, haptens etc. The material from which the cone point is made is selected as suitable for fixation of the molecules by covalent bonding or, for example, simple adsorption. The reaction is effected without transferring the sample to an intermediate container coated with the reagent. This not only saves time and reduces sample losses, but also greatly reduces the risk of sample contamination.</p> |
