The coin sorting machine control includes first & second detectors in the coin passage upstream of a coin segregating member and moving the segregating member to its coin return position when a second coin is detected by the first detector (SW1) before the first coin has been detected by the second detector(SW2). The number is controlled by a logic receiving the outputs from the coin detectors and comprising a J-K type flip-flop, R-S type flip-flop, and OR ccts. In the case when inserted coins are spaced less than the predetd. distance from each other, the coins are positively returned.
