Melting point: Decomposes slowly at 197 deg.C or above. Specific rotatory power[alpha] D<23>+153 deg.C (C=0.29, water). solubility: Readily soluble in water, and slightly soluble in methanol, ethyl acetate, etc. color reactions: Positive to the potassium permanganate, periodic acid-benzidine reactions. Color: Colorless powder, etc. USE:An antitumor agent exhibiting differentiation inducing action against murine leukemic cells. PROCESS:A microorganism, e.g. Streptomyces sp. TK-12 (FERM-P No.5845), belonging to the genus Streptomyces, and having the ability to produce the antibiotic substance TK-12A is cultivated by the spinner culture method with aeration, and the aimed antibiotic substance TK-12A is obtained from the resultant culture. |
