<p>The high and ultra-high tension alternating current transmission line has three separate phases and a single neutral supported so that uniform electric field exists between the conductor group, permitting a higher transmission voltage to be obtained without the risk of voltage breakover. Each phase (1,2,3) comprises a distributed array of parallel connected conductors. One possible configuration is to mount each phase group concentric with the others, with the phase conductors distributed round different dia. circular formers (5). The circular formers are assembled concentrically separated by isolating rods, and the former is supported on insulator strings (7) carried on steel pylons (8).</p> |
