PURPOSE:To enable reliable estimating of a residual capacity of a preliminary battery, by a method wherein, in an electronic device, such as electronic cash registers, which continues a work using a preliminary battery at a power outage time, a power outage time and a recovery time are printed. CONSTITUTION:With a power source switch 1 closed, a power source circuit 2 converts an AC power source into a DC source which is fed to a control circuit. An outage detecting circuit 3 decides that the AC power source is normal, and when a power outage occurs, which results in bringing a preliminary battery 4 into a non-operation, the preliminary battery 4 is operated through the output of the circuit 3 detecting the power outage, and the DC power source is fed to a control circuit 5. Meanwhile, CPU6 causes a temporary memory 10 to store a power outage occurring time accessed from a clock circuit 11. When a power outage is recovered, the power source circuit 2 actuates to bring the preliminary battery into a non-operation, and simultaneously, a power outage recovery time is printed by a printer 9 togetherwith a power outage occurring time previously stored. |
