PURPOSE:To restrict a production of tar at an evaporation part of the wick and facilitate a manufacturing of the wick by a method wherein the upper end of the spacer member for use in separating the main wick covered by a covering material at its top surface and an auxiliary wick is made to be higher than the lower end of the covering material and thereby a fast spreading of flame is performed when the ignition is performed. CONSTITUTION:Wick of the wick-type burner is formed such that a main wick 1 having a ceramic fiber of alumina system bound by a binder agent and a suction wick 2 of woven fabric of polypropylene and the like are connected by the sewing threads, heat- resistant spacer material 6 such as aluminum foil is arranged between it and the auxiliary wick 5 for use in spreading the ignited flame is arranged, and further the upper surface of the main wick 1 is covered by the covering material 4 and reinforced by the adhesive tape and the like. The lower end of the auxiliary wick 5 is immersed in lower than the liquid surface A raised by a descending of the wick in case of distinguishing the flame and then set at a point higher than the liquid surface A' descended when the ignition is performed. The upper end of the spacer member 6 is preferably set at the same level as that of the upper surface of the covering material 4 and set at least higher than the lower end of the covering material 4. |
