PURPOSE:To reproduce a high quality recording picture by arranging heating elements on a substrate, so that each element is shifted in the direction perpendicular to the direction of the line and so that the printing is not misaligned even though the heating elements are heated at different timings. CONSTITUTION:The first heating element group A and the second heating element group B of two heating elements 1 which are arranged in one line are arranged so that they are shifted by a distance l in the direction perpendicular to the direction of the line in a zigzag pattern. The distance l is determined so that it is equal to the amount of movement of the recording paper in the secondary scanning direction corresponding to the difference between the conduction timing of the heating element group A and the conduction timing of the heating element group B. Therefore, the thermal head is attached to a heat sensitive recording device so that the direction of the line of the heating groups A and B are aligned with the main scanning direction. As for the picture signal for each line, the heating element group A is selectively conducted, and the heating element group B is selectively conducted at the next timing. Thus the printed dots can be aligned on a straight line with respect to the running direction of an arrow in the recording paper. |
