A drainage pipe for sports grounds is desired with which the surface, i.e. the top layer of a sports ground, in particular a tennis court, can be drained simply and effectively. This is achieved if an elongated pipe section has inlet holes (5) at a distance from the underside and is provided with a slit aperture (3) along the top side, which slit aperture (3) is covered by a push-on (7, 9) elongated lid (8), the top side of which is covered with an essentially planar sports-ground coating (13). This drainage pipe is laid in the top layer of the sports ground, the sports-ground coating (13) provided on the lid (8) forming a part of the sports ground. Since soil particles can also pass into the drainage pipe through the inlet holes (5), the drainage pipe can be cleaned after the lid (8) is removed. <IMAGE>
